Methodology
How we pick a default
Build WP names one default merchant, then the honest exceptions. This is how that choice is made.
Affiliate link to Elementor. Opens in a new tab. We may earn a commission. Not an official Elementor site. Verify current pricing on the merchant.
Build WP is a dedicated lander so a local shop — and a CJ reviewer — can see a real URL, a methodology, and a merchant we are willing to send people to. It is published by Gary Thomas through 4 Life Health Wealth LLC as part of Shopfront Stack. It is not a doorway of keyword pages, and it is not a fake Elementor website.
The job we are hiring WordPress to do
A plumber, photographer, or consultant needs a brochure that can answer the phone: who you are, where you work, what you charge enough to start a conversation, and a tap-to-call number. WordPress is one way to get that brochure. It is the right way when you want ownership of the files, a visual editor you can grow with, and an ecosystem of plugins you are willing to maintain. It is the wrong way when nobody will log in after launch.
The default on this site is Elementor’s hosted path: the company that makes the visual builder also hosts WordPress, so the first install is not a scavenger hunt across cPanel, FTP, and a plugin directory. That default is for people who already chose WordPress. It is not a claim that WordPress is the right first website for every trade. Shopfront Stack’s parent guide still tells many shops to use a builder in month one.
What we actually look at
- Whether a non-developer can publish a service page without learning PHP.
- Whether hosting and the builder are one vendor or two tickets that will blame each other.
- Whether the site can leave later (WordPress export, not a closed proprietary format).
- Whether the owner will face plugin updates, or the host absorbs some of that work.
- Whether a hosted builder (Squarespace, Wix) would finish the same brochure with less surface area.
- Whether cheap WordPress hosting (our sister Web Host / Hostinger) is enough if someone will install Elementor as a plugin.
We do not run a lab of page builders. We do not publish Core Web Vitals from a test we did not perform. We do not invent “Elementor vs Divi” scores. When a guide names a product behavior, it is based on the vendor’s public documentation and the practical sequence a one-person shop has to finish to be reachable.
Why Elementor Hosting is the default here
Elementor is already how a huge number of WordPress brochure sites get laid out. Putting the builder and the hosting in one account removes the classic failure mode: cheap hosting, a free theme, five plugins, and a white screen. Elementor documents cloud hosting on Google Cloud infrastructure with a CDN, SSL, and backups as part of the hosting product. Confirm the live plan grid for what is included in the builder license versus what is sold separately — that packaging has changed over time, and we will not freeze a 2024 blog post into this page.
The honest costs of the default: you are still on WordPress, so you still have an update surface. You may pay more than the cheapest shared host. You are not getting the rigid calm of Squarespace. If those costs are the actual problem, we say so on the comparison page instead of hiding them behind a CTA.
What this methodology refuses
- Fake star scores or “best page builder” badges.
- Coupons or prices copied from a screenshot we cannot date.
- Impersonating Elementor’s brand, editor chrome, or support identity.
- Pretending we migrated 200 plumbers.
- Using another wave of Shopfront Stack merchant brands as the default call to action on this URL.
